My One Word: Wisdom
A short while ago, my pastor, David Parker, shared a sermon about what would characterize a successful life. Seeking wisdom leads to a stronger relationship with God, greater confidence in making sound decisions, strengthening the ability to say yes to the right things and resist those that separate us from Jesus. Solomon asked God for wisdom. God was delighted by this request when he could have asked for tremendous riches, victory over his enemies, long life, etc. I want to seek wisdom where it can be found—in prayer, through Scripture and other readings, via godly people of strong moral character. I pray that I will be conscious of all the decisions that confront me daily and approach them through the question—is it a wise thing to do? I pray that the Holy Spirit will be with me on this journey throughout the year and that I will have ears to hear and a heart to obey.
