My One Word: sojourn
I have been serving as a worship leader/songwriter for over 25 years. Yet with all the experience, training and ministry, I find fear still tries to rob my joy. My husband and I suffered multiple losses in 2012 with many tears shed. The Lord placed SOJOURN on my heart, as a reminder that this is not my home but only a temporary stay. The Lord is calling me to come away with Him, even when I do not understand. To trust him when I can see clearly and still trust Him when I am blinded with fear. When life circumstances crash in; when betrayals come, friends leave, loved ones die and life becomes complicated, the Lord beckons me, “Come away awhile with me My child.” He gently reminds me that this is not my home; I am to not fear he who can destroy the body but he who can also destroy the soul. I am called to live life in the power of His Word, His promise, His Faithfulness …for HIS glory.
It is a duel meaning word. Sojoun in that this world is a temporary place of dwelling, so hold on loosely. Sojourn also in that I am to visit the scriptures daily and “stay” in the presence of God. To tarry with the Lord in prayer.
