My One Word: surrender
The word is … “Surrender”… .
I was walking on groomed paths through the woods. It was a beautiful 3 mile walk. At one point I came to a fork in the road. I had a choice, taking the plowed, easy, pretty road, or take the path that was covered in about 15 inches of snow.
“The road less traveled” daunted me. I took the first step. Yes, these roads are hard. No one had prepared the path. I had to do it myself. Within a few minutes I was getting tired.
Along the path was a look-out tower. I climbed it and knelt in the snow at the top. “Surrender” came to mind. Even when the path is hard, “Surrender” … Even when no one wants to come with you … “Surrender” …. Even when it takes your energy…“Surrender”
… all to Jesus…
When I opened my eyes, there he was – a beautiful eagle -in the distance, soaring over the lake.
What do I have to lose when I surrender my fear?
What do I have to lose when I surrender my strength?
What do I have to lose when I surrender my plans?
In surrendering I gain His assurance, His strength, His plans.
…”Surrender” it is.
