My One Word: TEACHABLE
TEACHABLE
In a couple of weeks I will become a full-time college student for the first time in my life at the age of 41. To say that I am a bit nervous would be an understatement. To say that I am excited would also be. This is an adventure that I have only dreamed of until very recently.
I had considered the word PACE to be my one word as I thought about how I would need to be very cautious with my schedule to balance my family, personal, spiritual and now educational lives well. This will be important for me to do, but I think as I reflected on WHO I want to become throughout this year, God showed me TEACHABLE as the means by which I will be able to pace well.
In 2015, I want to be TEACHABLE. Obviously, as a university student this will be a must, but I want to be a good learner in every area of my life. I want to open my mind to the possibilities that God has in store for me, whatever they may be. In my education, in my marriage, in my parenting, in my relationships with family members and friends, in my relationships with those that I serve with where I volunteer, and even in public with complete strangers, I want God to TEACH me who He wants me to be to those around me. I want to reflect my Father to those around me by knowing and sharing the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
This year, Father God, teach me. Open my heart and mind to become new all over again. To become the woman you desire for me to be in every area of my life for Your glory. In Jesus name, Amen
