My One Word: ENOUGH
ENOUGH
My word for this year
Why? Just think of how many meanings it holds:
Said lovingly.. ”I am enough” – a belief many of us need to embrace daily
Said inquisitively.. “Enough?” – a search for agreement politely
Said impatiently.. ”Enough already!” – a judgement that shuts things down emphatically
Said thoughtfully.. “Soon enough” – a promise of events to come timely
Said desperately.. ”Enough…..” – a plea for it to stop, finally
Most commonly quantitative – Do you have enough? Am I enough? Have we done enough? When will it be enough?
…but what is “enough” to do, and be, and have?
Ironically..
We realize we’ve have HAD *enough* when we are overwhelmed with whatever ‘it’ is – emotion, food, stuff, etc
We realize we ARE *enough* when we do the work to create our self-worth and value
We realize when IT is *enough* when we reach a boundary that we’re familiar with as a baseline or a ceiling
#Enough needs to be a DECISION, not an amount
You decide WHEN *enough* is enough.. big/small, long/short, important/trivial, strong/weak, full/empty, good/bad, happy/sad…
You *decide* when you have had enough, given enough, taken enough, done enough…
And yes, ultimately YOU decide that you are enough – and realize no one can take that value from you
I don’t just want to survive another year … I want to LIVE it 🖤
