My One Word: Listen
February has begun, so I am final choosing the word that’s been on my heart since December. This year, I want to listen. I looked up listen in the dictionary (ok, I used the internet) and found two definitions that I loved: “to hear something with thoughtful attention : give consideration,” and “to be alert to catch an expected sound.”
This year, I want to listen to God, my hurting friends, coworkers, and fellow students in need of encouragement, and the wisdom of those I respect. This is going to be an interesting year, as I am graduating college in May and I have no idea what God has in store for me next. I’ve been applying to graduate schools and I’m trying to listen to what God has to say about my next steps in life. In addition, I want to become a better friend who listens and cares about what is going on in the lives of those around me. After all, they are created in the image of God and very valued to Him!
