My One Word: consistent
As I began the process of choosing a word, I thought my word would be “excessive”. Synonyms are abundant, lavish, exaggerated, extravagant. I made a list of healthy and unhealthy ways to be excessive. (i.e. excessive love vs. excessive judgment: excessive productivity vs. excessive electronics, TV, talking, eating, stuff, etc.)When I started looking for scripture that contained the word excessive, I found that it mostly described undesirable things such as excessive riches, excessive interest, excessive sorrow, excessive drinking, excessive pride, excessive speech, etc. I started moving toward the word abundant because I wanted to have abundant quiet times, abundant prayer, abundant love for those around me and abundant wise use of my time. As I continued reading through My One Word and looking up scripture, God brought the word consistent to mind. I want to be consistent in all those healthy areas of abundance. Some synonyms for consistent are regular, persistent, steady, invariable, true to type, undeviating, in keeping, befitting and more. When I found those words, I realized that consistency is what I needed to focus on this year.
I have gone through My One Word in the past but lost steam a few months into the process. This year I am excited that I am doing My One Word with five other women. The accountability and encouragement will make a huge difference and I am “visualizing” a more consistent life by the end of the year!!
