My verse for the year is Psalm 51:10, which says in the NIV, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” The word STEADFAST leapt out at me as the word to focus on, because it’s easy for me to waver in my anxiety and stress– to become so overwhelmed by my workload that I fall into sinful or destructive habits such as laziness, procrastination, or gluttony. The new year is a wonderful time to focus on renewal– I want God to create in me a pure heart and a STEADFAST spirit that stays strong through the stresses of life and is not dependent on circumstances.
