I was not sure how to approach the challenge from my pastor at the beginning of the year to choose one word. I have tried to practice as John Eldredge suggests, to begin each year with a question to Jesus: “What is my theme for this year?” The answer was “Love.” my theme of “Peace” last year. I took the steps my pastor suggested for One Word and “Love” came forth again. However, as I start the second year of a separation from my wife of 12 years with divorce likely, I found understanding and believing “Love” was the right word difficult. Nonetheless, the message from God seems clear to me through readings, people, and whispers. So I decided to let go of my baggage with this one word and see where it takes me.
