My One Word: loving
Without love…what’s the point! Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself…Philipians 2:3
It’s easy to say, think and consider but in actually in this sinful state of humanness, it is so difficult in everyday life. I want things and often consider only my own needs and thoughts. Even in looking at Kay Arthur’s post on…Have you given up on the hope to be anything other than what you are? Are you the obstacle that keeps you from becoming what God has designed you to be?
I was thinking about me and finding success in this life to feel significant. The only real significance I ever know is when God touches my days with His grace and mercy and seeking fulfillment in any other way is empty. Yet, I continue to get caught up in the mindset that I have to be somebody… like it’s about me….so sometimes I see my heart and it is not pretty. I feel the need to strive to accomplish and do and succeed to attain this illusive and tempory goal instead of seeing the needs and praying for God’s wisdom and resources to meet them. I think that if I could really come to the place that God’s love is being lived out in me 24/7 then I will not have this battle. To do all things because His love prompts, motivates and directs me! Jesus came to serve and He is our greatest example of real love.
John3:16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we know[d] that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.
The pure in heart will see God…I desire that pureness in heart and His love is the key!
