My One Word: Declutter
The past few years I have participated in the “One Word” challenge, which at its simplest is to ponder on what one thing you feel should be your life theme for the coming year.
Previous years have been words such as ‘present’, ‘simplify’, and ‘adequate’.
This year my #OneWord is ‘declutter’. I want to focus little by little on removing things that are just taking up space. Physical space, emotional space, my time, etc.
I hope to identify at least one thing weekly that can be removed from my life to give me more breathing space in every aspect. They won’t necessarily be big things, although I may discover one or two, but there will be plenty of small things.
I’m off to a good start. Today I spent just a little bit of time in my craft room and decluttered in there. Some things got thrown away, some things just got a bit of more careful arranging. It wan’t a top to bottom thorough cleaning out, just several focused minutes of decision-making for the things that were already most evident and visible.
And OH what a difference the little bit of effort has already made. Now I feel like the room is useful and pleasant again!
