The SHAPE of love

According to the calendar (not to mention Hallmark), February is the month of love. It’s a time to focus on relationships – and buy candy and cards. So when Valentine’s rolled around this year, I decided to let my one word SHAPE my approach to the holiday.

I chose to hand-make Valentine cards for my wife and both of my girls this year. On the front I drew a shape that represented them in my eyes, and inside I wrote why that shape metaphorically describes them and what they mean to me.

While I’m not likely to be offered a job at Hallmark making cards anytime soon, the exercise helped me see my family in a fresh way, and communicate how special they are to me.

As February draws to a close, how’s it going with your one word? How can your one word shape the way you approach the important relationships in your life?
